Dr. James I. “Bud” Robertson was a legend – one of the best Civil War Historians, a teacher, a mentor, a friend, the Stonewall Jackson expert and, believe it or not, an ACC college football referee. When he passed away, a group of fellow historians (including Steve Woodworth) decided to write a book in this honor. It includes essays by Allen Guelzo, Emory Thomas, Jack Davis, Brian Steele Wills, and more. The presentation will be about how Dr. Woodworth and his co-editors got the idea for the book and went about developing it.
He will also talk a little bit about some of the chapters that might be especially interesting – including one that Robertson had requested correcting an error that he had made on the immediate cause of Jackson’s death. Dr. Woodworth will conclude with a brief account of the process of getting it published, which was a little more involved than usual. It should be a great story! Books will be available for purchase and signing.
